Bad enough to get stuck in the mud, but to know it's actually your garden you are messing with would be awkward to say the least! I think I would have had to have had a wee glance at the flower bed before leaving, even if it meant the kids were late!

I can relate to the having to do something responsible when you'd rather be doing really, really fun and rewarding. ;-)
