On the communication conveyor belt
Well, the new boards are a mixed bag - they will be a great improvement for things like Bag End and Rivendell, but ack... I am at wit's end trying to keep up with the questions, emails, items being posted in weird places... I don't really feel that I've even been a part of the "conversation" at them yet, all I've had time to do is play administrator and frantic organizer. Thank goodness Decipher *finally* approved Dr. G's modship - we need the help with this thing! :-(
I've narrowed the new "Pony-style" board for the Scrapbook down to two scripts, both based on the cgi-bin threaded messageboard software that Decipher was using (except I can't find one as old their version was!) - it will take a bit to get it installed properly and configured to resemble the old boards as closely as I can. Thank goodness I have my hubby to help, except both of us are swamped this week, so the timing is bad and everyone will just have to wait a little.
BUT it will be threaded in the same manner, and even be in blue and green!
AND it is only a one-time $50 fee, which I can cover - it should fit within the bounds of the bandwidth I have too. That means no fees for any of the users, yay!
Haven't decided what I will do with the header yet - can't use Decipher's so I'm going to make up something new once we settle on a name for the place. The poll for a name is over here:

(I left off Green Dragon as it is very much overused in Tolkien Forums)

i for one cannot fathom having to wade thru all those subject posts to read any replies..at least with the old style, you could scan at a glance and decide whether or not to click further. i guess there are alot in the same frame of mind as me. it just takes too much time...der. If it takes time for me, and i can pick and choose, i cant imagine your work load trying to keep tabs on the language and such. I for one did always appreciate your moderating.

The minute I saw the new board were up, I jumped in right away and played around for hours trying to figure out the place -- good thing my hubby was away for few days, so I could take the time, hehe! It was fun. I actually don't have too many questions, now, and the ones I do have can be answered mostly by just trying something and failing -- or succeeding. I hope people stop feeling so nervous soon and just enjoy themselves -- that will make your life a bit easier, I suspect.
Dear Friend Prim
Thank you is too small for words to express my thanks for all you do. I pray every day for you and yours and hope OUR FATHER will Bless you all beyond measure.
With Heartfelt Love and Greetings,
Tom
