Too much stuff...

You know, back when I agreed to help set the "used" prices on the curriculum and mountains of supplies left in our building when the grade-school and middle-school closed, I had no idea that I would be expected de facto to sort it all and go out and try to find buyers for all this stuff. Sigh... I spent some time this afternoon gazing in dismay at two huge cabinets full of art supplies, most of it untouched (overspending was one of the problems we were stopping...) - Beautiful things. Stacks of exacto knives, oil pastel sets, brushes, palettes, nice graphite sketch pencils, bottles to mix paint in, books on various artists... And the only things our preschool can use are the watercolors and the crayons.

I ended up buying two wooden mannequins (a man and a dog) for myself that I can pose for sketching, as I am working with my kids on drawing - the rest, I have to somehow find a home for without just giving it away. Argh.

I love those wooden mannequins. They are sort of studio-decorative and also helpful when learning proportions and anatomy for art.

It does seem you have bitten off quite the project here. Best of luck to you getting all the extras sold. I hope you walk away with a nice sum of money for the school and the satisfaction that the supplies will be used and appreciated.

Thank you for the vote of confidence ((((e)))) - I managed to sell about $2500 in books and classroom stuff to two small schools in the fall, but kind of hit a dead-end after that. Need to roll up my sleeves and try again before it all gets out of date. I'm sorting out a couple bags of classics to take to the booksellers this next week. Live and learn!
