Tasty success

With especial thanks to [livejournal.com profile] piplover for the site that led to the bbq brownies and to [livejournal.com profile] everloyal and [livejournal.com profile] starbells for their help in making them - here are the results of our dessert auction contributions -  I wanted to do a third item that either looked more creative or was sugar-free but kind of went into a funk on Saturday and didn't get it done. Oh well - maybe next year!

First up, the wonderful Earl Grey Tea Cookies, a butter shortbread with orange zest and lots of real Earl Grey - I packaged them on vintage plates I picked up at an estate sale and they raised $36.00 for the youth at the auction:

and then the less photogenic 'Barbeque' brownies that we took from the idea in pip's link - of course the magazine ones looked a heck of a lot better, but these were huge, soft and tasty.  They raised about $40 at the auction, again by being split up onto vintage plates.
Barbeque Brownies

Thank you for all the ideas, ((((flist))))- now to go nibble at what we came home with instead, a cream-cheese bread, a cherry cheesecake and a mini banana bread loaf. Yum yum. We have way too many good cooks there.

Awesome fund raisers! Good for you.

And ohhhhh, what you brought home makes my mouth water. Enjoy!

We tried for a marionberry pie but after it passed $35 we decided to save up for a shot at the cream-cheese bread instead. ;-) This is so much more fun than selling magazines or washing cars.

Those Earl Grey cookies look lovely! I'll have to give those a try! I just googled the recipe and the photo looks similar to yours, so it's probably the right one. It sounds as the the dessert auction was a great success.

I made cookies this week, but it was just the standard oatmeal, chocolate chip with walnuts. I wanted to bribe the troops at work because we had to move everything off the floor for a carpet cleaning this weekend, lol.

They're really rich shortbread but VERY tasty - and the auction was a success with some ladies getting into bidding wars over the pies and cheese-breads. (Yes, that loaf of bread DID just go for $55.00...) I love it when it's for a good cause and everyone is into overpaying just to raise the money.

Ohhh, those look yummy! I'm glad that site was able to give you some ideas! And I have to look up that recipe for those Earl Grey Tea Cookies, they look sooooo good!

Give them a try! We had the dough in rolls in the fridge overnight and then just sliced and baked them. Mmmm.

Mmmm! I think I've also got to give those Earl Grey Tea Cookies a spin. They just look so ridiculously scrumptious!

They really are, and their freckles are cute too.

There's a few variations out there, the one we used was pretty 'basic' for what it is, chosen and mixed up by everloyal (the only difference here is she added vanilla):

I saw another one where they had the vanilla plus things like lime zest and an egg in there then rolled the log of dough in coarse sugar, very fancy.

Thank you!

I have to credit my daughter with the idea and mixing up the dough, but I'll definitely be keeping them in mind for a re-run - very tasty!
