Whimper.

Things are going from bad to grim. The state of Hawaii just seized my dad's entire savings. We have nothing left but the value of whatever inventory we can sell if no one wants the customer base and business. I've contacted our lawyer to see if anything can be done, but I expect not, governments being what they are.

:-(

Someone post me something cheerful, please.

Why did they seize his savings? Did they give you any reason? They can't just do that for no reason. Good grief! Don't you have a power of attorney? You poor thing :(:( Huge Hugs to you!!!

How much is the HOT Sauce inventory worth?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... no fire insurance, he'd let it lapse unfortunately. The hot sauce is the one thing we thankfully have a buyer for, as one of his best friends ran the local grocery store. Guess he's willing to add an extended hotsauce section for a while... craziness...

What on earth did they do that for? Are they taking the savings for some reason, or is it just frozen for the time being? I'm glad you have a lawyer, praying you can get it sorted out to your benefit and not to more grimness.

Here are some passages I turn to during grim times:

Jeremiah 29:11 -- "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

2 Corinthians 4:7-9, 16-18 -- But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed... Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Galatians 6:2
Bear one anothers burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

This was last nights WORD for service, timely huh?

And Romans 8:28 -- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

((((Lin))))) Thank you - they claim it was for back taxes on the business, but we have paperwork now that shows they should have only had claim to half of that amount... lots of phone calls ahead, but there is (dim, sputtering) hope.

Oh, no! ((((Prim)))). I am so sorry to hear about that and about the landlord issue. Something cheerful...

Clean House is pretty cheerful. Nicey Nash, the hostess and a fellow Pisces, is fun and I love seeing the new, pretty redecorations and how happy the people usually are about them.

Hmmmmm...

Cinder just made the cutest "prrrrt" noise.

How can they do that??? With no notice or anything? I hope your attorney can find out what the heck is happening!!

Let's see -- something cheerful...

Both the Harry Potter book and movie are coming soon!
WKRP in Cincinnati is out on DVD.
No matter what the state of Hawaii does to you, you have many friends here.
My floweres are blooming.

Does any of that help?
