Ah, busy mundania

I seem to have fallen back into the belief that nothing in my life is interesting enough to bother posting it, which is stupid as I always enjoy reading other people talking about everything from making sandwiches to walking their dogs.  Life sure is busy for someone who is apparently doing nothing, heh.  Spent a good part of today in yardwork, trimming fruit trees and various other whacking that is needed as spring is already springing along.  My daffys are 6 inches up and the snowdrops and crocuses are fully blooming and here I am with still one more plum tree to do.

My folks finally found a home to buy down in the middle of the valley near my old alma mater, Western Oregon - it was a 'college' when I was there, since then upgraded to a 'university'.  There are renters in the place, though, so they have to wait until April to be able to actually get into it and have gone off in their camper to the coast in the meantime. so at least it's quiet here again.  I'll drive down tomorrow afternoon and check out the town, I'm sure it's different than it was in the late 80s when I was last there, it will be interesting to see what's changed.

So. Life. Made a big pot of meaty spaghetti sauce with plenty of olives and mushrooms for dinner, topped off with whole wheat oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.  We didn't mean for them to be whole wheat, that was a flour-bin mixup, but they're pretty good that way.  Time to go watch another ep of 'Riders of Berk' - enjoying catching up on those.  There must be hundreds of black cats named "Toothless" out there by now.

Your life is very interesting! And even when you're doing "nothing", I always love reading one of your poetical little posts about how your garden is doing or whatever. They brighten up my whole Internet, truly. :D

(I'm getting outside... every few days, to walk the dog. *g* Not my dog; she belongs to a housemate, and we all walk her. Mostly I stay indoors, playing a video game and knitting and reading; I've just picked up my type-through of LOTR again, finally. :D)

I've never heard of "Riders of Berk"; what is it?

I'm suffering from the same malaise at the moment. I do enjoy your entries when they appear though and I'm always impressed with your gardening activities. I managed to get as far as giving the lavender bush a haircut yesterday before the cold drove me back indoors.

I'm spoiled, living where I do - it's been such a mild winter, it's almost more like an extended cold spring. I gave my lavender bushes haircuts yesterday too, must have been the day for it, they always smell so nice even when they're dead, which is more than you can say for most things. ;-)

I presume you have seen "How to Train Your Dragon"? (if not, go, posthaste! forthwith! tally ho! Watch!)

Dragons: Riders of Berk is the show they've made from it, but unlike a lot of shows spawned from movies, this one is actually good - they even have almost all of the original voice actors (including Mark Hamill as Alvin, lol... and David Tennant does Snotlout's dad...). Toothless and Hiccup are amazing, as always.

it's always interesting, i think, to go back to somewhere you haven't been in a while and see what's changed. both for the better and not.

It is! I know I've been nostalgic, pleased, saddened and even horrified at what has happened to some things from my past, but it's always of interest. We moved a lot, so I have a lot of places I can check out.

The town was a blend of old/sleepy/same as before just shabbier and new/shiny/being built up, but in spite of it being larger than before it really didn't feel much different, I could easily see my younger self whizzing around on a bicycle to fetch groceries just like before, though the grocery was now a hardware place so that might have made it hard to chew.
