What have I learned so far about being a witness? That the judge and attorneys can go on and on and on in that room while you and your fellows wait on hard wood benches for hours and hours. And then they come out and say "sorry, we're out of time for today. We'll call you when we know the next court date."

Got to know the other lady for 'our side' pretty well, with nothing to do but talk to one another for nearly four hours. Managed to keep eye-contact and conversation to the bare, bare minimum with the 'other side' at the other end of the hall. Awkward and weird.

Ho hum.

Now I get to do it all over again. By the time I do the witness part myself, I'll probably feel like I live there. On the good side, this means the lady I am supporting has more time to find other people to witness as she was on short notice this round. My heart hurts for her and her kids, may truth be told...someday.
