Here comes the Froot
Aug. 17th, 2009 11:28 amI just got a bit bowlful of greengage plums, the very first harvest from my little tree. The drastic weather we had caused several to split open, sadly, but they're mostly salvageable for jam. Not many apples this year - no idea why, I certainly saw bees - but both plum trees are doing very, very well.
A sunny countertop with bowls of red-yellow-green gravenstein apples, green plums and variously coloured cherry tomatoes looks very cheerful and bountiful and a just downright picturesque. Blackberries are ripening up as well, time to don an old long-sleeved shirt and fill a bucket or two, I'm hoping to put up some more jam this year.
