Speaking of Ruffles
Mar. 6th, 2010 08:52 amI love ruffles and was tremendously pleased to see them coming back into fashion this year - a chance to find a couple nice pieces to add to my wardrobe that were (gasp) new!
Sadly, it appears so many years have passed since the last time ruffles made an appearance the tailors have forgotten how to properly use them.
I mean, seriously, people - rows of short ruffles going around a shirt, like fat stripes? Wads of ruffles on shoulders? Strings of ruffle sewn around the neck and then, as if they didn't know how to stop, on across the chest, just wandering off down the torso? Teensy ruffles that end up just looking like someone accidentally stuck them in the dryer on high... plaid ruffles with no attention paid to the pattern in the fabric... oh gack. Ruffles on the hips??
Where o where are the thick, properly ruffly ruffles nicely layered and appropriately placed for fluffy texturing and quasi-historic cheery poof?
Sir Percy would be appalled.
