I mean, I know 'island time' isn't the same as 'mainland time' but... We are completely 'stuck' with this estate until those pieces of paper show up.

Reminds me of the tale in which a city-dweller has his car keys swallowed by a cow and is informed by the drawling farmer that it's not a problem, he just has to wait for it to come out the other end.

The analogy of the Cow to Government is strikingly apt. Government takes in good ideas, people, and intentions, and produces waste, delay and frustration.

How annoying for you! I would have thought it would only take a week or two. I mean it's not like they're NYC or someplace where you have lots and lots of them to handle. But then again, what do I know..?

How am I doing?...hm... most days aren't too bad, but I certainly have plenty of moments that are "ouch" moments for memories of my dad. I expect that hurt won't ease up for at least a year, the way such things are - my brother and I are comparing notes on how we're coping, seeing as this is the first 'major' death we've had to deal with in our lives and we're newbies to the entire process. I'm mostly just stressed about the business - afraid we won't be able to sell it and would have to liquidate it...I guess some part of my dad would still feel 'alive' if his business that we loved so much were still running, somehow. I just keep praying - it helps a lot to have Jesus.
