Maui is truly another world. We have a big ol' hot tub at the back of my dad's store and you think we can get rid of it? We can't even *GIVE* it away. Seems the islands are awash in hot tubs. Folks pay to have them shipped from the mainland, then they move away or upgrade and it costs too much to ship them again. So they're everywhere, too common. No one seems to want his gas range either for similar reasons.

Free hot tub. You haul. I'll even help you yank it out if you come in July.

In other notes, we found the state claimed my dad's savings as backtaxes for a business tax he had been on a payment plan for. We've now found paperwork to show they should have only had claim to half that amount, they say the rest were 'fees'... more phone calls ahead, and vague, sputtering hope but not much.

Gads, what a time you've had Prim! It's not as if it wouldn't have been challenging enough for you and your family. I'm sorry I haven't been commenting, but I am only finding time for random lurking - but you've had and have my prayers for a smoother road ahead!

I hope it works out for you to get some of his savings back and to get rid of the hot tub too...gee, I'd take it in a second...kind of a similar situation as trying to get rid of that huge pile of dirt yesterday from the new garden....everyone would love it but no one wants to transport it...we took a very small amount of it home with us and our car still stinks a bit ;o!

Maybe you should get a load of dirt and turn the hot tub into a planter...

Here's hoping you will get at least *some* of your father's money returned to you.

Ugh, what a pain. Tax issues don't sound fun. Yay for paperwork, though. I'll be praying that the red tape involved in getting them to look at the paperwork will be easily unraveled and set aside. May you be done dealing with this soon, and have some funds to show for it as well.

I *love* this idea - he was quite a gardener most of his life and I'm growing some of the seeds he sent me this past winter in my own garden right now. I'll have to mention it to his friends - they wouldn't really do it, but they would love that mental picture too, and it would make them smile.

Well, my dear Prim, I wish I could take advantage of the hot tub offer. I am so sorry about the state taking the money. ((((((Prim and Family)))))).
