Internet Creates Dignity
Jun. 9th, 2010 07:43 amI love the net - my son is jazzing himself up for his last day of school by voluntarily wearing slacks, vest, frilly tuxedo shirt and bow tie. This is uber-cool, BUT neither of us knew how to tie a bow tie. Oh woe, alack, alas.... ticky ticky tick Aha! Yes, it exists - tie-a-tie.net with step by step pictures showing how to tie a bow tie. It's like having access to all of the knowledge of the Borg without all of the uncomfortable head-gear.

Date: 2010-06-09 02:49 pm (UTC)I love the net, too -- since the first day I got on it, I've viewed it as the best and greatest library in the world, where research is as easy as clickety-clickety. Since libraries and research are two of my favorite things, you KNOW I got hooked pretty fast. ;-)
My most recent answer to a dilemma solved by the net was when a puzzle ring I had fell and came apart and I could not put it back together! However, it was a matter of seconds to find the procedure in a search. Presto -- ring and wearer unpuzzled!

Date: 2010-06-09 07:46 pm (UTC)I really honestly don't remember how I functioned without the internet. Encyclopedias aren't remotely helpful for elven hair braids, or tie tying, or finding the coolest possible wedding cake, or finding out what other movies Matthew Gray Gubler has been in, or discovering who sells tea cup bird feeders...
