My mom went white at her temples before the rest could catch up so she colored it for a long time, she's only now tentatively letting it all grow out to mostly-white and she's in her 70s. She says she still looks in the mirror and goes "What? That doesn't look like me - my hair isn't that color!" but she doesn't want to be one of those old ladies who color their hair until they die either.
