Very...odd...
Mar. 20th, 2005 05:36 pmMy daughter insisted that I see "Napoleon Dynamite" so I obliged by renting it for her and spending a bit of time in front of The Screen to see what she kept quoting... something about someone feeling too hot so they shaved off all their hair and now they don't want anyone to see.
Very weird show - but well done, in it's own quirky, strange way. A study in the phenomena of nerdy geeks in a small town, with a handful of very good moments... Though it was about halfway through before I could figure out any kind of a plot.
Have you seen this? I'm still trying to analyze what the director did to capture that quasi-70's awkward tacky sincerity thing.
LOVED the online romance. Heh.

Date: 2005-03-21 03:59 am (UTC)I've watched it and I don't completely get it. I think it's just one of those quirky movies that finds a place in you're psychie somewhere and won't let go. I also think it's one of those movies that's way more funnier when it's being quoted and immitated than when it's actually being watched.
I've always prided myself on being a pretty "hip" mom. I "get" alot of the things my kids are into because they're the same things I'm into, but this, I just wasn't getting. I just had to laugh and say, "well, there had to be something I didn't get, I guess this is it"
LOL!!
