All the pretty holiday glittery things

I love all the way Christmas lets me release my inner magpie as it suddenly becomes socially acceptable to SHINY SHINY everything.   My tree is decked out with lots of white, gold and silver this year and got a new package of white tinsel to go with the lights around the windows instead of the same old tinsel I recycle again and again.  It's really quite lovely, like when multi-colored lights outside are buried in just a bit of snow so the colors shine through the white.

What colors did you end up with on your tree this year?  I know some folks like the tradition of the same decor each year, I like to mix it up.

not doing a tree this year. but when we did for the longest time it was the same old some old. but the last few years we had one we tried color schemes. blue/white/silver, gold/red/green are the two that i can remember.

My mother-in-law gave us a box full of ornaments she'd used on her tree over many years, she seemed to think my hubby would have warm childhood memories of them and want to keep them like heirlooms, ala Norman Rockwell. He not only didn't care, he said he barely recognized most of them - we took it with much appreciative noises, but then quietly got rid of most of them later. There is definitely a time for the 'same old' and a time to move on.
