We just got a house offer accepted!

Found a house! (been looking for nearly two years now) and made an offer - and now it's accepted and now we're going "Yay! Oh no! Yay! Oh dear! Yay! Oooooh boy look at all the things we have to do! Yay! Aaaargh! Yay!....."

I love the house though the kitchen is a little smaller than I would like, now the inspection has to happen this next week and I have to pray they don't find any 'deal-breakers' in that. It's so wonderfully funky, a mid-century modern with hexagonal living room and a fireplace tower going up to a cupola in the middle of it, an angled courtyard with a little waterfall into a small koi pond, an outdoor fireplace, a pergola with wisteria over it... aaaaa! It's difficult to wait for all the details and papers to work their way through now.

Thank you! And golly it's been a looooong search, I'm so very happy to not have to scroll through real estate listings with my coffee every single morning at last - I'm halfway between super-excited and fretting something will gum up the works but so far so good!

Yes! I'll definitely have to get some pics! We are planning on adding a couple windows, a transom and a skylight, it's going to brighten up so nicely too. I'm quite curious what is in the ground that might pop up in the spring - so much to learn and do.

Oooh yes! We're scheduled for inspection with extra mold-checks and sewer-scope, I'm really hoping it can get a reasonably clean bill of health for a 50+ yr old house. It looks like it's been well maintained and well loved, so I am hopeful. It has so many interesting angles that I expect you could count the number of plain square corner walls on one hand.

I'm hopeful! I have a tree guy coming to look at taking down two trees I will want to go away and replant with smaller things too. Lots to do but it's all mostly cosmetic changes so it's the "fun" kind. Next up is picking out paint for most of the house and carpet colors for three rooms!

Hexagonal rooms always look good to me! There's a house I drive by on occasion where the main visible section is hexagonal and I keep thinking about how many different walls you'd have to put things on! The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is getting a long sofa in there if that's something you want.

I thought about that too - so many options but they do have to take the angles into consideration. I'm thinking one of those sectional couches that are kind of adjustable in their configuration so we can scootch things around as needed. My ratty old sectional here has been so useful tho it's definitely ready to be retired at this point.
I'm really loving the hexagonal room - I want to eventually add a small sunroom off of it and maybe make that a hexagonal one too!
