Who's on first?

First off, let me say that Lin and boriel, though much loved, are not in here as they seem to have been well-covered already. Instead I name them here, in a place of honor. :-) There are still so many who I had to leave out - what a varied and wonderful group of people we have here... I expect many will be easy to figure, though I tried to be vague. ;-)
1. What words can I possibly write that would be worthy of your great love? You are aptly named, a well-spring of warmth and deep, unconditional love for so many. I only got to hug you once, but it is a hug that I remember, how your warmth and sincerity surrounded me in such a comforting and loving way. You are extremely special, a gift to all those who know you.
2. How you have blossomed these past years! Your gentle spirit shines forth in your writing, in your words to others, and in your life. You are so delicate and yet also have such strength, rooted in the goodness of life and trellised by your supportive family and friends that you may bloom ever fuller. Blessings upon you and yours, you truly have a gardener's spirit.
3. It's a tall order, to write about you, a giant in your influencing support of this community. How I admire your steadfastness, your generosity and your heart. You are one who is not content to dwindle to fit the mold society would expect, but instead who has had the confidence to just live honestly as who you are, and to support and be supported without any strings attached. You've had some hard times, but haven't crumbled - instead you've used even those to lift and be uplifted, a worthy skill and a blessing.
4. Longsuffering and loyal, honest and open, fun-loving and creative. You are all these things and so much more. You have overcome such obstacles by your quiet strength - and even when you're hurting you never seem to withdraw, but are able to open up and accept the balm and comfort of others. Your writing is a reflection of your heart, and I can always see your lovely smile when I read your humor, whether at this site, or any of the others we see each other at! You are beautiful, inside and out and I hope one day you will realize this as well.
5. You are another amazing woman, one who has overcome so many things and come out of it stronger. You have many facets to your personality, and you show us so many of them, humorous and lighthearted, serious, thoughtful...even your down days. You have opened up slowly, but what a lovely fragrance you lend to the garden. Your creativity and writing are always a treat, and I read them eagerly when I find them. Your humor is among the few that send me into real out-loud paroxyms of laughter, and it's always timed just right. How I hope to meet you one day!
6. You are perhaps my very best friend, the one I can be completely myself around. I have been so privileged to see you growing and changing over these years, testing the waters with your writings and then taking flight. So far, you seem to just use LJ for random silliness, but I have hopes that one day you will join us here also. I so admire your talents, especially your musical ones that only a very few here have known. Your humor always cracks me up, and if we only had the time we would probably write a novel together. You mostl lurk, but for me you have always been there. Thank you!
7. I have been told by several people now that we are very alike, and have even been accused of 'channeling' you! Strangely enough, I don't really feel that I know you closely and yet everything you write about is familiar and comfortable, and the few times we have emailed and such, we fit together like a pair of old shoes. In some ways, our lives seem to be running along the same track, and I really do hope to meet you one day - it would be interesting and fun to find out more!
8. How you have changed, and grown these years and yet how you have remained the same! Your amazing smile and beautiful eyes always show in your words. Your writing is a flowing river, thoughts from your heart and from your moods, both up down and sideways. Your humor is a delight, and every now and then you really throw in a zinger, some deep thought that makes me go "wow - and she's so young!" What a delight, to share in your life and to be privileged to watch you taking flight.
9. How I have to smile, remembering you! Such a beautiful lady with eyes that always reflect in a moment the changing moods of your heart. Your soul shows in your eyes, and your heart is tender and generous. You have known sorrow, and grieved deeply as only one so great of heart can grieve. You have also shown such joy in the lives of others and in the happenings of your own. You are one of the quiet ones, a person who goes around behind the scenes blessing and supporting and caring for others, often without them even knowing who it was who helped them. You never look for credit, yet when the day comes that all credit is known, I believe your name will be high in those honors.
10. You are the one who had the courage to reach out to me when I was hurting, and to draw me out and support and comfort me. This is a gift I cannot repay, but it means the world to me. Your life has had many of the same struggles as mine, and you have been such an inspiration to me in your fearless head-on grasping of it, taking it on with such transparency and dedicated love. How I admire and love you, my dear friend! You are so honest and steadfast, even when you think you are flickering, you really aren't - it is just as much a part of whoyou are as your days of steady flame. How I wish you only lived closer! I hope one day I will see you again.
11. It would be hard to imagine two people more unlike one another, and yet I have found myself caring for you as a friend from the moment I first met you. Your eyes always have that twinkle to them, and underneath your curmudgeonly crust, you are far more tender-hearted and generous than you might admit to. Your perspective on things is always so different from mine, and yet I respect and admire you for your forthrightness, and the creativity you draw from it. You will always be welcome. It's all about you - and in this case, that works!
12. What a broad palette of color you bring to our world - Your honesty about your own changing thoughts and moods is something I envy, and admire. You tend to think of yourself as being more negative than you really are, but even then your creativity isn't hindered by it, but simply finds another outlet. Your love for your child is always a shaft of sunlight. You paint your writings fearlessly. You are that bright and piercing light of Earendil, that starglass that shows where the darkness is and yet drives it away at the same time. Your clarity and depth are a gift, and I am honored to be called your friend.
13. My dear, dear friend! You were the very first Ringer I ever met in the Real World and your creative, steadfast, loving self has continued to be such a comfort and help to me. You are amazingly creative and talented, an artist in so many ways, and your heart shines in your eyes and through your words. You are never afraid to learn something new. You are a mainstay, always faithful, in this community even when your own life hits various difficulties. You are blessed to be married to a real life Sam and if anyone should have such a blessing, it is you.
14. You are a firecracker, with a great sense of humor, and when I met you I was so pleased to see how you didn't let the opinions of others ever hold you back. You are extremely creative, loving and free in spirit. Those who do not look beyond appearance may turn away, thinking you a rebel, but inside I think you have a heart bigger than the ocean. What a lady you are, and how very special, how your eyes sparkle when you are feeling mischievous! Your relationship with your family is so filled with love and humor - it was a treat getting to see that in action.
15. We are so far apart in ideology and beliefs, yet so close in our crazy views of the world! If I only had the time that you do, I think we would happily spend hours just bouncing our humor off of one another. You are a writer par excellence, a top-notch poet and a lady of such caring as well. Your heart is tender, yet you are wise and careful in how you use it. You have shown such a wisdom in your choices of words and silences. I really cannot imagine what the community would be without you as a part of it!

Date: 2004-11-13 07:00 pm (UTC)And wow! I would love to meet all these people who are so special to you, and who you describe so beautifully -- though I expect I may have met one or two, or even three. In fact, I am sure of it! ;-)
Though I am not quite sure enough to guess. #12 fits MNS -- and there are a couple of others I am almost certain of, but my fingers won't let me type it while there is the least chance of a mistake!

These are so fun!

Date: 2004-11-13 10:04 pm (UTC)I really did think they were obvious when I was writing them, but my daughter just read them and said they all sounded alike - perhaps it will be harder than I thought after all.

Date: 2004-11-14 02:46 am (UTC)*blushes some more* I don't feel particularly gifted, but I am glad that I have so many people so supportive of me, and I certainly consider myself privilaged to read the works of the fans on the MB's.
Reading these (yours and the lists of my other Friends) is a real lesson in self-scrutiny! I hope I get to meet some of these people someday!

Date: 2004-11-14 01:24 am (UTC)Who could ever match that smile? Your smile and your laugh are what I remember best from our time together, and how sharing you were with everyone there - a marvelous blend of teasing and sincerity. You are someone who feels as if you have known some sorrows, but whose loving and being loved has kept you going. You have so much talent, and vim and vigor to share, and so much laughter bubbling inside you. I hope we may meet again one day!
