Well, today my hubby goes in for surgery and I get to spend the day hanging about a hospital 'waiting'... sort of like being at an airport except with less luggage. Taking my bookbag stuffed with things to read, write and edit, kind of wishing I'd taken up knitting or something else portable. I have reccs for Calufrax coming up this month, so maybe I can get those done.

The surgery thing isn't serious and all should be well, they're taking out precancerous stuff *before* it went bad. Whole thing is kind of surreal for both of us though and I must say I have the more comfortable part.

I feel like Annie singing "tomorrow! tomorrow!" - this will be done and my mom will be visiting and I'll hopefully be headed to the beach for a good time with the ladies from my church family, as he logically pointed out there was no point in my missing it just to watch him sleep. Here's to no complications, and for this good weather to continue long enough for us to get to go out and properly soak some of it up. Hope all of you have a very nice weekend.

So far so good - the hospital has a beautiful chapel that I spent part of the afternoon it leafing through the huge Bible with 1400's illumination reproductions in it, gorgeous thing, made me wish I could show it to you. All is well and now we do the 'recuperation' thing, thank you! (((((curu))))))

Thank you, dear lady - he came through fine though it took longer than expected all is well, now we get to do the 'getting better' phase. He's sooo bored in the hospital, he got permission to have his laptop and I'm taking it to him so he doesn't lose his mind, lol... ((((spook))))

(((((Tom)))))) Thank you - it was a looong day of sitting around in chairs and writing to pass the time, but he came through everything just fine and is now recuperating, gets to come home Monday. He's been on liquids only for a while and is dreaming of that Real Food he'll get to have again soon. :-) So far so good, I'm so grateful again for skilled doctors and clean, working surgical instruments here.

Thank you! All is well and now we get to see how recovery goes - all he gets is gum and hard candy to suck on today, poor chap - he's REALLY looking forward to food again.

Hoping there are no complications and everything goes well for your hubby. I found knitting very handy during the many emergency-room hours I spent with my father. I'm in the very basic, knit one row, purl one row, stage, so I didn't have to worry about a pattern and could let it soothe my mind and occupy my fingers. Plus, it was a prayer shawl for him, so I felt good working on it there.

I love that idea, making a simple prayer shawl. I know an older lady now in her 90s who said she took up knitting in her 50s when it occurred to her she could end up living with her children because she said "that way when I want to butt in on what they're saying to each other I can just sit in the corner, knit and shut up." Ha!

Thank you so much - so far so good... I'm just home from the beach and he's sleeping, we'll see if he gets to go home tomorrow or not. I'm sure he can't wait to just be in his own bed again, you know how "restful" it is at a hospital!
