Nothing like my family being gone for most of this week to make me realize how much food we all go through - I didn't bother to grocery shop or cook the whole time and wow is my fridge empty now. They're all back as of today - time to hit the grocery store treadmill once again.

I remember my mom talking about how long it took her once my brother and I moved out to adjust the amount she would buy and cook - she'd still make big casseroles and then she and my dad would get absolutley sick of it trying to finish it off themselves, or she'd buy too much produce and half of it would rot. Her freezer had big roasts in it that she didn't want to cook because it would be too much meat so she'd save them for when we visited, leaving us with the vague impression they were always eating roasts.

I hadn't realized how much I buy is on autopilot until not as much was needed. We had five teenagers living here a couple years back and there was a veritable food tsunami flying through my kitchen, we threw away produce and froze casseroles ourselves after that passed. Hard to believe one day it will only be two of us. I suppose then I get to buy big roasts.

I still can't get over how young he looks in that shot - and rather dashing too.

Oh, yes indeedy. I get so cranky that there's no recording of his 1950s performance as Alan Breck Stewart - he must have been PERFECT!

OMG! That is really just delish. Where do you find these things? I have shamelessly Googled for images and never found such a treat.

I will be travelling with this image.... I occassionally go "out with the girls" and whenever they start going on and on about someone like Brad Pitt, I like to throw out a "Oh, I really prefer John Thaw ..." At one point I pulled out the iPhone to pass around a pic of Sylvester McCoy. One lady was deeply, deeply worried about me. Another lapsed into German she was so distressed and pronounced it the face of a man who would steal babies. She then began chanting the entire tale of Rumplstilskin... auf Deutsch. So, it has become something of a joke for me to trot out pics like that to check for a reaction from my table mates.

I had a pic of Pat as Second Doctor as the home screen on my phone. That got some worried glances. Apparently, you are SUPPOSED to have your cat or kids on there... if not Brad Pitt.

I think I will get thumbs up on this new pic. And if I do not, they are the ones I worry about!

Well, this one was from the BBC archive on Patrick Troughton. It's also part of a rather excellent gallery entitled Before They Were Time Lords.

I actually found it through a knitting website called Ravelry, which has several busy Doctor Who forums. One of those forums is my central source for all things Who except fic - it has threads for picspam, episode discussion, rumors and news, crafts, and everything else all neatly organized. Clever people find these things and post them there, and I just see them and remember where to look! ;-)

One of my goals for this summer was having my daughter show me the basics of how to knit - I'm running out of summer, I better get my act together... especially if there are lovely things like that hidden away among the knitters. ;-)
