Mermaids and too few Hours in a Day

Extra projects I'm having to help with this month and next are interesting but sure put a dent in my ability to enjoy the pleasurable company of my lovely people here online - so if I seem to go missing, I'm just in "quick lurk in between stuff" mode for a bit.

Our church is doing a "Trunk or Treat" again this year, where everyone dresses up their cars with a theme and we all hand out candy from the trunks of our cars - lets kids do an entire neighborhood's worth of people in one parking lot instead of going to houses and is good fun, we had a TON of kids last time, almost ran out of candy and did run out of hot-dogs. Anyway - this time my big station wagon, being a 'land yacht' is going with a nautical theme. I'm using netting, rubber urchins, mylar fish and a giant stuffed marlin pillow we have for ambiance and Starbells and I are dressing as mermaids - found great glittery stuff at Goodwill we can layer for outfits, and Swedish Fish candies to hand out. :-D Now to just figure out how to get some blue christmas lights in there.

I'm sure somebody knows how to make christmas lights plug into the cigarette lighter.

You know, I can't even remember where I found that now, but it seems so perfect for the days when I am running in circles, heh. :-D

And yes! I've seen people plug theirs in that way but I need to go hunting for whatever type of converter is needed to do it... or maybe a string of LED lights that run on 12-volt? Or maybe I'll just steal the backup power supply from my computer for a couple hours, heh... we'll see what the store yields up this afternoon.

Me too. I don't see that changing much before the end of the year for me either!

Trunk or Treat sounds like fun, and a great idea.

Someone heard of it being done at their relative's church back East so we copied it - one other plus side is we don't have to do any decorating or cleaning of the building itself, everyone just closes up their cars and drives away. :-) We have a preschool, so we used to have a big "Harvest Fest" every year with carnival-type games they could win candy at but it was so much work to set up, run and pack away again that this is a welcome relief while still giving the kids and their families a bit of fun. Last year someone brought their portable fire-pit and set it up in the lot so we could all take turns sitting around it and yakking, camping-style. I hope they bring it again.
