I do hope the kitties of Lyria and others who have elderly pets may go as peacefully as my little Peaches went this afternoon. I'd been checking on her almost hourly as she was fading away, and had given her a little water and a thorough petting earlier on, but when I went out to the garage where her little heated kitty-pad was that she liked to sleep on she was gone... The good thing is it looks like she simply went to sleep and faded away. The kids all said their goodbyes to her poor little remains after I smoothed her out with her brush and made her look as nice as reasonably possible. It was a mixed bag - the oldest had already come to peace with it knowing she was ailing, the middle one is sobbing in his room and the youngest was fascinated with the way a deceased cat feels if you pet it. Sigh...

Considering we are also still househunting, it is a bit of a relief for I feared she wouldn't survive the stress of a relocation. On that front, we looked at another house that was on nice property, but it was at the very top of our price range already and turned out it would need an addition to work... no money being "left over" for such an addition without going much further into debt than we are willing to take on, we had to regretfully let it go.

Seasons come, seasons go...

It's nice that Peaches' passing was so peaceful, but I am sorry for your loss. Give your son a hug from me and tell him I know just how he feels. Blessings and comfort ((((((Prim))))))

I grieve with you this night. I lost my were-kitty Jack about nearly 7 years ago, and I still find myself sighing. I sometimes call Zaphod or Pippin "Jack" by accident. You should see the looks they give me. (small smile)

Candles to Hathor are lit for your friend Peaches and for all pets who have gone on to that big sandbox in the sky. They give us so much and take a little piece of us with them when they go.

I share your pain at the loss of Peaches. I am glad only that it was peaceful and that your family is adapting. It won't be easy but they will come to terms, especially because you did not hide her illness from them. Fortunately for me, my cat is doing better now, but I find myself reflecting on the dog I grew up with. My parents had to have him put down a few years ago, and we all still miss him terribly. My thoughts and love are with you and your family.

Thank you for all the well wishes about the house hunting. I hope that you, too, will find the perfect house. It can be such a frustrating experience. Perhaps that first house you were waiting on was not as ideal as you'd hoped. We too have had to turn aside from even looking at some beautiful houses because of the prices. It saddens me, but it is reality.

Keep us posted on your house hunting. I just know that the perfect house is out there for you!

Prayers for you and the children
When we had first met I had just lost 3 cats in 2 weeks, all brothers and sister they were with us over 12 years, like family. My heart goes out to you and the kids. (((Peaches))))

I have a cat who is going to be 12 in August. I have been told by the vet that his kidneys are starting to fail. I know that his time is coming to an end, but it's so hard. I've had him his entire life. I admire your strength dealing with the loss of a beloved pet.

i too will soon face this ultimate happening. my cats are both 10 yrs old (brother and sister) and although are fairly healthy, are beginning to finally show signs of their age catching up. give the young ones a wee extra hug.

i was wondering about your house hunting efforts but have been forgetting every day with regularity, to send an email to fotk to find out how its going. hopefully you will find the 'perfect' place to settle in to.
