Ruthless rummaging in the music o' youth

In my ongoing attempts to clean out 'stuff' we aren't using, I tackled two large drawers stuffed with audio cassette tapes that we had from mine and the mister's youthfuller days. Tried to be ruthless, which is difficult when sidetracked by "Wow! I remember when I first got this tape back when I was in high school..." type bursts from the past.
Filled a grocery bag halfway with tapes to toss into an upcoming rummage sale (go me!). Made a stack of tapes we decided we really *would* like to listen to again and then plugged a small stack of money into ordering those albums on cd before adding them to their tapey brethren in the bag. Reluctantly pried out of my parentally nostalgic fingers a lot of kiddie tapes (Awww, remember when (insert child's name who is now a teenager) used to sing along with this when she was a toddler....?), etc.
Gads. Did I really used to listen to Barry Manilow? Scott Wesley Brown? Oooold Manhatten Transfer? Guess my tastes have changed. I *did* order a cheap cd of 'world's greatest polkas' and got rid of the polka tapes I got from my grandma, heh... guess if a polka breaks out, we can supply the music, heaven forbid my grandmother's granddaughter would not have at least one polka album in her collection. ;-)
And why is there STILL an entire drawer full? >_< Not fair.
