My town's landmark is certainly, um... unusual

Mad_jaks was talking about finding a nice cross-stitch kit with a picture of one of the pretty, quaint mills she has in her area, which made me realize that I couldn't think of anything in my town that anyone would want to stitch. Or paint. Or...whatever.  Sadly, Aloha is one of those towns that grew up along/around a railroad station and it's sorely lacking in manmade prettiness.  Lots of pretty trees, hills, streams and such but pretty buildings? Meh....

The only thing we have for a notable landmark, aside from a water tower, is Harvey.  He's a giant concrete rabbit in a captain's outfit who presides over the Harvey Marina.  Every holiday he holds something different in his outstretched hand, such as a giant valentine heart, a lit up Christmas tree, a pumpkin, etc.  I remember him from when I was tiny and he makes a great navigation point for visitors (turn right after the giant rabbit), but I would never cross-stitch him.  He's kind of scary.

Oh dear. He's more Donnie Darko than Harvey. Not dissimilar to the disturbing rabbits in a local ad that's currently running.

Yikes! I'm officially never eating at that place - evil rabbits as a way to attract customers? What were they thinking?

Next up: Evil Rabbits up the ante by crushing the town under the feet of a Giant Concrete Evil Rabbit, or "Harvey Does Australia!"
