Well, my goal when I woke up was to fill one box of stuff and one bag of clothes to get rid of - am proud of myself for managing to do it. Some things I just.... what do I do with this? Like the oversized framed photo of an ancestor that was given to me from a relative's estate. I don't go for the Wall O Faces in my decor, so it's been under my bed for years now. Finally just stuck it, ancestor and all, into the Salvation Army box, let someone else figure it out.

What do you do with 'important' heirlooms and such that other members of the family give you when you don't really want them? :-/

sometimes pass them on to some family member that does want them. sometimes some cousin has an interest in great, great aunt edna for whatever reason.

Very true! Though in this case his branch of the family is very small and they regarded him as a black sheep - I'm one of the only ones who had a good relationship hence why I ended up with it. I've another still under the bed, a large picture of a great-grandma, that will definitely get passed around to see if there's any interest before she follows him into the bins.

Mine is "hang it on the wall and ignore it". It's a portrait of my father, done by my aunt. Thing is, there is another portrait of my father, done by somebody else, that I like better. And there are other pieces done by my aunt, that I like better. But I don't have them, I have this one. And if I don't have this one, then I won't have anything. So I don't know what to do.
