Rain and sunshine
Mar. 30th, 2005 06:18 pmIt's been quite a week... I won't go into sordid detail, but suffice it that sometimes I find my duties in life much harder to carry out than at other times. This too, shall pass...
On a brighter note, I've found some smiles among this community and outside it as well - and the rain looks so lovely when the sun hits it. I can look out two different windows from where my computer is, seeing rain and sunshine gilding every tree bough with diamonds and mist in the day. With the sunrise, the blossoms on the fruit trees shine with such a beauty, and at sunset the colors glide through the trees in the back and blaze upon the stone of the fireplace, making it sparkle as it does at no other time. The clouds are low over the mountain but always changing in the wind, and every time the sun breaks through after the times of grey, it stuns me anew. The poplars shine with baby-new leaves in the palest of golden-green...The bluebells are coming up so thick, white and purple and blue and green, I feel as if I am living in a Monet painting at times.
01. What is your favorite word?
Okay, I give up - I'm a lover of the English language and have entire books about just words... After staring at this at great length, I must raise my little white flag of surrender. How about onomonopoetic words like "fluffy" and "twang"?
02. What is your least favorite word?
Aside from blasphemic profanity, hard, single-syllable derogatory labels for groups of people - whether it be Jap, Spik, Fag or any other...they always sound even worse in their harsh brevity, as if the people mentioned weren't even worse two syllables of effort, something that would be scraped off of the bottom of a shoe.
03. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Time. Quiet, uninterrupted time - especially outdoors. ahhhhhh... Refreshes all three.
04. What turns you off?
Habitually needy people who are never satisfied or even grateful no matter how much you give, especially if they won't even try to care for themselves but just want to be 'taken care of' perpetually.
05. What is your favorite curse word?
*thinking* Lately, it's been 'blast it' and 'dagnabbit.' Rude raspberry noises occasionally top it off.
06. What sound or noise do you love?
A cat purring, birds in the trees, leaves rustling down in the fall, water glugging down the drain, the 'snap' of a wallet closing.
07. What sound or noise do you hate?
Annoying electronic phones ringing, leaf-blowers, kids throwing up in the middle of the night.
08. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Part-time teacher, illustrator, landscape design, decorator, bookseller.
09. What profession would you not like to attempt?
Anything medical or military.
10. When you get to heaven, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"Well done - welcome home."
Thank you all, for just *being*. (((flist)))
