A pleasant surprise
Apr. 13th, 2005 12:59 pmRight at the curve of our driveway there is what I took to be a young tree of some sort, it's base surrounded by Oregon Grape and thick with three colors of bluebells - I gave it only passing thought, as something bland and deciduous with green leaves.
It bloomed.
Deep wine lilacs.
It's not a young tree at all, it's an old bush! A very well-established lilac bush, that may date back to the house being built, mid-60's. I've trimmed some and put them in an opalescent volcano-glass vase in the window.
May we all produce something as lovely and youthful in our old age.
