Spent part of yesterday helping a friend get caught up on serious backlog in her laundry - she has been ill and ended up with almost everything she owned, plus linens, needing a wash which was overwhelming her. Rather than walking back and forth across the large apartment complex with an armload at a time for the pathetic washers they have there (cold water only and only a couple of them), we loaded up my station wagon (literally!) and headed to the local laundromat.

YIKES! How the heck to families without washers and dryers do this all the time? How can they afford to?? I brought forty bucks in quarters with me and it was *all gone* - and we weren't quite done! 8-0 It was 1.75 to 4.00 a washer, depending on the size, though the dryers were a bit more reasonable. At least there was hot water. What ever happened to 50 cents a wash? Am I really that old?

((((hugs own washer and dryer))))

When my husband and I were apartment hunting, we were coming from an apartment with no laundry facilities. We looked at every apartment complex in the area we wanted to live in and when we came here they told us that a washer and dryer were standard in every apartment. SOLD!!! Never, never, never, never again will I schlep my laundry to the money pit! *happy sigh*
