I've just been noticing that the backs of my hands are getting all veiny. Like I remember my mom's looking when I was small and noted the difference between her hands and my own smooth, young ones.

Sigh... No doubt the age spots will be next. Guess I might as well get used to it. :-P

A shame that physical youth is so brief, instead of lasting as long as our mental / spiritual youth.

Greetings and Thanks!

Hi Primsong,
Thank you for adding me to your LJ. I remember the same observation that you mention here regarding one's hands. Mine will be fifty on their next birthday. 8-)

Prim's getting old
Covered with mold
Creaky old joints
and other points
Aging does stink-
But keep in the pink. ;-)

Haha!

Oldy-moldies in a bag,
How we slump and how we sag.

My mom has taken to using those creams that fade age-spots. At this point I am determined that I shall not partake, but hey, I'm also leaving the door open for my opinion to change when it happens. After all, I've never been old before; I'll have to see what it's like when I get there. ;-)

Prim, it's so common! I look at my hands now and always remember my mom who used to hold me when pics were taken during Christmas time. It's so funny but I always loved her hands and now my hands are looking more and more the same.
Maybe your daughters will watch your hands now and later, they will think about your hands like you do now at your mom's hands.
Btw, you don't look old!

Aw, thanks Mrs. Pip - I'm not too far gone yet, not quite 40, and I am also grateful that the genetics in my family usually allow for a relatively graceful aging. I'm not really feeling all that old, I'm just kind of looking at my hands and going "huh? These are mine?"

I'm glad I'm not the only one... :) Mine aren't veiny, but the skin is beginning to get thinner and a bit wrinkly. Just like Mom's looked when she was my age - I see her hands so well in my memories.

Yep. "Huh. These are mine?"
