Adventures in mud

primsongThe sun came out! Really! It's shining through the trees, and we all keep gathering at the windows to tell each other "look at the sunshine!" - Ah, Oregon in the winter...
When I was backing out of my drive this morning, there was so much debris from the windstorm piled up along the railroad ties that border my garden area that they didn't "bump" to let me know my back tire had hit one... the tire just rolled up and right over it and all the sudden I was stuck with one rear wheel in my (very muddy) garden! spinnnn spinnnn... I finally had to make the heartwrenching decision (for me) to back into it *even further* so I could get enough purchase to get back out.
Oh, to hear that sound of my precious little plants *crunching* under my car!
I got out, and the kids got to school on time, but I was imagining my plants, laying there all flattened and dead and broken... I checked on them as soon as I got back, sort of tenatively peeking at them with a wince ready and at hand. Whew! What a relief that all I killed was a rectangular slot of blooming groundcover. My pineapple sage and peonies and lavender were all safe!
All is well. Even though I have to clean my entire house this week to host a baby shower when all I really want to do is write fanfic and putter in the yard and watch StarGate. :-P
