I seem to be running out of energy and vim before my bookfair it quite over... I still have today to do, but I find myself delaying going out the door to the school and dinking around on the computer for a minute instead. Must be theraputic.

I'm going to do something frivolous - that's about where I am this morning. ;-) I found this over on Rosiegardener's LJ -

Write a journal entry for this meme with six random facts about yourself.
Then pick six of your friends list and tag them - no tag backs.
These rules should be included in your entry.

1. I ripped up a rose plant this week and cackled with glee as I shoved it's spiky, unflowering carcass in the bin.
2. Puzzles frustrate me - just give me the blinkin' answer!
3. I am still learning to play the autoharp, though not well enough to play for others yet.
4. I dislike hanging up pictures of people because it always seems they are looking at me.
5. If I stare very hard I can wiggle my eyes and make the whole room look like a blur.
6. I love bubble-tea.

No tags... but if you want to be frivolous also you are most welcome to.

Hey, (((Prim))). I feel the same way about puzzles and I love bubble tea, too! I told Estellye I would do this and will do so later on.

We had a hard time finding it around here at first, but now two shops that sell fun little asian snacky things and bubble teas have opened up nearby - love the ones with the custard bits and chewy giant tapiocas in them... Lavender is good, I tried that one last time. Mm.

I have a good friend who had always wanted to take up the auto harp and she finally started about three years ago. She has gotten quite good but it took her quite awhile before she was willing to play for us!

I want to try bubble-tea. I don't think it has reached Raleigh, yet.

I have always wished I could play some kind of instrument, so the autoharp (which is easier than most) was my pick - I can't pick out melodies so well, but I've gotten fairly good at the basic background chords thing. I feel less like a "musical idiot" this way.

Bubble-tea may reach you yet!

What's bubble-tea?

And BTW, I like your idea of the medication-Bailey's cocktail. It might kill me, but it sure would taste good going down, LOL!

Essentially, take a nice black or green tea and mix it with an exotic flavored milk-powder-thing, whip it up and add a generous scoop of fat giant black tapioca pearls (about the size of big blueberries), or maybe some custard cubes or coconut jelly bits... serve with a colorful oversized fat straw that you can slurp the chewy goodies up with along with the tea. You both drink and eat them...they are very filling too. :-) Yum.

I have honestly never heard of bubble tea before. It sounds very intriguing. The closest thing I've tried recently is some asian ginger-honey tea my god daughter turned me on to at Thanksgiving that I now buy from Amazon. It is amazing!

Sounds like chai - another favorite here. :-)

Yup, an Asian treat - I think it originated in Thailand or similar and has gotten about. We have a marvelous bubble-tea place that just opened near here and I have gotten quite addicted to trying all the different flavors - had a rose one yesterday, with chewy dried, sweet rose petals in it along with the custard, my kids tried jasmine, honey, and coconut - they were all quite good, we had to share.

If it makes it out your way, do try some - the fresh tea/milk/flavor/goodies combos are excellent, but beware the cheap powdered milk mixes some coffee places might have...in other words, if it tastes like dry milk is in it, it probably is and you still haven't had "real" bubble-tea. If you have an "Asian" market area in your city, you might have some luck there.

Okay, I am so new to this. Haven't heard about any of this before. I did a web search for bubble tea in the Pasadena area and the following came up, which is in Monrovia, around the corner from where I take my dulcimer lessons:

http://www.teamap.com/tearooms/aloha_boba_tea_house_2141.html

I guess 'boba' means 'bubble tea'? Just guessing by other things that came up. Will have to go there and see what is going on. Found a page that described all the tapiocas. Where have I been? I feel like I must have been on the moon or something....

Oh, and the music studio where I take my dulcimer lessons, I donated my autoharp to them for their 'museum' which they have on display with a photo of me playing that autoharp onstage with Jean Ritchie waaay back in 1969 at the Berea Folk Festival in Kentucky. Being in a museum makes me feel like an antique. I'll have to post some of those photos.
