...early in the mornin'....

You know, when my kids were little I could just lift them out of bed if they wouldn't get up.

Then they got big enough I could still *pull* them out of bed if all else failed...

Now they're just big lumps and I am reduced to yanking off covers, tickling and flashing lights.

What are some of your suggested ways of getting a teen out of bed when regular alarms fail to produce movement? My dad blasted us with the soundtrack from 2001, but I have other people in the house who still need to sleep. I can't do the 'natural consequences' because left to themselves they really don't seem to care if they miss school. :-P

I always wondered why high school started the earliest and grade school started the latest since the younger kids are easier to roust out. To accommodate after school sports and clubs and jobs I suppose. 5:30 wake up calls were my only choice when I was a high school student because I sat in a sleepy stupor for the first 45 minutes unable to function. I'd jump right out of bead before entering into the morning trance state, however, lol, so I have no brilliant ideas. Good luck!
