Who-Votes and Oak-Knells
Feb. 7th, 2009 08:50 pmMuch happiness - voting is now open at the Children of Time awards
children_time. as classic's the only section I can honestly say I'm familiar enough with the works and writers in question to make a proper choice, but what fun just sorting through them! Some very nice people in there. Except the quandry that arose... in one case, do I vote for myself if after reading the others I honestly still think it was better? Is that too uppity? Or is it dishonest to do otherwise? Or do I use it to encourage someone else? Oh dear ,oh dear, oh dear. Perhaps I'll just leave some of these blank...
Finished up whacking grapes today and managed to give my smallest apple tree a haircut as well, what gorgeous weather! I do have a lingering hatred for oak leaves though, the unmitigated gall they have to not ever decay, might as well be flaps of brown plastic...mutter, grumble. I am planning on taking down my one oak tree this year, though not necessarily for the sin of having leaves (most of them come from my neighbor's oaks anyway)- it's hanging over our garage rather at an angle... plus its the most dog-ugly excuse for an oak I've ever seen, waggling scraggly unbalanced arms over our roof as it leers vaguely at windows over the garage roof. We'd like it much better if it had a new name, something like 'Firewood.'
