To all you librarians and book-lovers out there in LJ-land - have you ever seen this?

I don't even need another bookcart and it makes me want to do this. And yeah, while some of the entries were pretty sad, there's others that just make me bow down to the amazing creativity of bookish folk and give them all librarian treats and tummy-rubs.

Hah! I had seen this, mentioned in the Mediawatching section at the end of the prof. journal. (Bet most other professions don't have to have a sort of stereotype/anti-stereotype round up at the end of their mags. Those dreaded words: "Ssh!" or "She looked like a librarian.")

I mean, yes, very nice carts. :-D (We librarians get depressed from time to time, what with budget cuts, etc etc.)

I think I enjoy setting up and rotating the displays more than anything, love the ideas here. And yes, phooey on budgets! I ran into a librarian from a public school recently who was grousing that they approved an electric eraser in her budget, but wouldn't pay for any refills for it. She ended up asking for a bazillion paperclips because they always allowed those and using the money to buy erasers instead. Sheesh. :-P

I get most of my new titles from yard sales and thrift store bins myself.

I have no idea what an electric eraser is and why you would want one anyway (!). Eh? (What's wrong with a non-electric one? Is this a jolly cross-cultural confusion??) Well, we wouldn't be given money for paper clips, we'd be given paper clips! And I really can't say what it is I'm not allowed to buy at the moment because it wouldn't be too hard to work out who employs me by tracking me back across the 'net. Suffice to say, it's depressing, but at least not as bad as the Wirral, where they're being forced to close 11 out of 23 libraries... :-(

Lol... yeah, I never saw the point in a doohickey that does the scrubbing back and forth for you. Maybe her library had more than its share of people who scribbled in books? I think it was her point, that they were willing to pay for an overpriced silly toy and then not even make it usable. *rolls eyes*

I'll settle for the old-fashioned ones, little pink crumbs and all.
