Well, I guess the Geek Season truly has shifted - I not only have my Third Doctor plushie, I've actually stopped at a shop with my daughters so we could look for a properly ruffled vintage shirt for my son, who has happily agreed that if his sisters can find the proper pieces, he would wear a Three-like bit of fashion. We just bought even *more* classic episodes.

And I'm seriously thinking I'll sell my LOTR toybiz collection. They haven't been out for a long time. Anyone want a boxful, cheap? Let me know. I still think they're pretty cool and love the detailing in them but...well, I've somewhat moved on. Gotten past the "keep ANYTHING Rings oriented" phase some time ago and now getting pickier about what I'll keep from the pile.

I would love to find someone new to Rings, someone who has just discovered it and has that fire and passion for that world, just to bequeath some of the geekier things to an appreciative person who didn't get to have a crack at them when they were still in the stores.

Now? Well, unconfirmed reports of someone in Portland having a police box on their front porch made us all grin like loons and wish we had one too.

Such are the Seasons of Geek!

I am resisting requesting some figures, simply because of financial constraints. However, is there by chance a Denethor figure in your collection...? Also, my son never got ahold of Theoden, I don't think, so that came to mind when I saw this and your post at the Fanclub. Let me know if no one takes you up on these... :-D

So much for resisting...

I am still retaining my keenness in all things LotR, because I had that fandom since before I even was old enough to know what a fan truly was, and I don't see it going away ever. ;-) However, I have strayed into other forms of geekdom which sometimes entertain me in the place of LotR -- in the realm of Japanese anime. I watch tons of the stuff, read certain manga, and yes, I have a plush figure, and would buy another in a shot if that particular character came across my radar screen. I have looked at action figures, but they are very pricey and not as well detailed as the LotR ones.

Long live geeks, no matter what the geek-dom!

I went and rummaged in the drawer, but no Denethor - did they ever even do a figure for him? I don't recall... I do have that random Gondorian guy I think was supposed to be Royd Tolkien - he always looks like a young Denethor to me, probably because of his chin, but that's it. I do have 'old' Theoden in his furry robes and 'young' Theoden somewhere in there too I'm pretty sure - He's one of my favorites too. You can pm me if you would like.

By and large, I don't have too much 'fan' stuff - I get DVDs of things I like (or books) and then do insane writing crossing them all together and confusing everyone else - oh, but you know that... ;-) Still, other people will occasionally think being a fan means I want little Daleks. (But they do come in useful when children come round here. They've had some interesting battles with K9 in the living room.)

An, LoTR. I've been rereading it since I was 11. No danger of crossovers here, though. I love it to bits, but I'm not writing Tolkien Elves for anyone!!

I have to laugh because I have in my living room:
1 sonic screwdriver
1 Nine
2 Tens
2 Jacks
1 Space pig
4 Daleks
1 Raxacoricophalapatorian

And that's just on one shelf. On the other I have:

1 Ent
2 Pippins
1 Merry
1 Aragorn
1 Bumblebee (I'm eclectic)
1 Qui-Gon Jinn
1 Yoda
1 Jar Jar Binks (My secret shame)
1 Obi-Wan Kanobi

I got rid of all my pokemon stuff a while ago, and like you, I've moved on from a lot of the LoTR things. But at least they're great conversation starters!

I love Bumblebee! What a great mix, the fragrance of geekdom arises from it. XD

I hear you on being pickier on your LOTR stuff...I gave away a lot of my LOTR stuff a few years ago (a few of which I regret now). Much of it is packed away though I do have all my Frodos out in our den/office. I never ended up with a Mt. Doom Sam and Frodo though...do you have them?

I do hope you are planning on keeping your lovely WETA Sam and Bill the Pony ;) And I know you had a few other WETA figures as well.

I did have them but my daughter bought them off me a bit ago - it just figures they *would* be the ones you'd need - I guess us ladies like the handsome ones. I gave away Lurtz and a Gollum at a white-elephant party this Christmas and they were right up the alley of the teen-age boy who got them, lol...

No worries on Bill and Sam! They're my favorite!

Hehe! I think a Police Box in place of a wishing well would be perfect.

Part of me has moved on and part of me never will. The part of me that was changed will always be rooted in LOTR. And I am only just now proficient enough on the harp to do LOTR music justice, at least the way I hear it in my head. I've let my collections go over time, but I've kept the jewelry and the foil Decipher cards. Wow, come to think of it, that Decipher board for those of us listed on the LOTR DVDs is how I met most of my Friends here at LJ, and how I came to be here when the Decipher board closed.
