Too...many....stories...ack....
Jan. 11th, 2009 06:48 pmI'm feeling rather overwhelmed with all the writing I wish I had time to pursue, fragmentary multi-chapter stories rattling around, concepts for history essays, ideas for poems or adaptations. My laundry is piling up. 0_o
On the other hand, I've jumped off the bridge to swim in the waters of ficathons for the first time (a First Doctor story for
classicdw_fic) and found it dangerously addictive. Think I better just stick with wading in the shallows for now, I see how easily that sort of thing could eat up entire weeks (or months!). Part of the problem is brevity, or lack thereof - I'm getting better at short stories, but one I just finished (Unnecessary Vector with the Second Doctor) started as a drabble and ended up 5 chapters long. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
And then, just to contradict my very own pulling on the reins and to prove the muse takes the bit in her mouth whenever she's determined to, I'm already planning on joining in on the new
tardis_gen ficathon because I vehemently agree the world needs more gen for the good Doctor and want to do my part. Very encouraging to see the names of several fine writers already in their membership.
On the more hopeful side, I'm keeping up so far with a blog our church is doing together - we're reading the Bible three chapters a day to get through it in one year. Really helps having others involved and the pastor's sense of humor is a good thing.
Boy am I glad I don't have to do this with a quill and ink-bottle! Can you imagine all these LJ entries from everyone having to be hand-inscribed?
