Whew! That took a bit of doing, some of those.  Thank you so much to everyone, that was grand fun. :-D

I may have had to miss Fic Rush (again) but at least I was not entirely without a bit of writing going by.  I had a lot of responses and it took a while to crack some of those literary nuts, but now it's done.  I'll post the results in chunks.

First of all, here's my fifteen:

Fifteen characters tossed in a salad bowl )

And now....

[livejournal.com profile] lost_spook has done it again - made me use up more time typing! I blame her and her shiny [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies plotbunny adoption community, not because I found this there but because it made me go search through my own bunnies for any that I could adopt out and instead I found one that was only half-done so I had to finish it.

Put on some sad puppy-dog eyes now and go feel sorry for Mike with Doesn't Even Throw a Shadow at my [livejournal.com profile] written_leaves archive journal, if you like, or wait for it at Teaspoon.

Now back to those other stories - and grocery shopping and laundry, on the side.

I was quite tickled to find my fic for the First Doctor, The Benefits of Being Monochromatic won for his category in the Children of Time awards - thank you to everyone who voted! :-) Good work, also to the others on my flist who landed awards, especially the exceedingly well-deserving [livejournal.com profile] jjpor.

Not that there was a lot of competition in some of these, unfortunately - we need more good Onefic out there, folks...! And Two! And Three! Poor Three didn't even have enough to compete with this time, that's just sad. Come on, you can catch those plot-bunnies, I know you can.

Oh dear oh dear, I think I've just accidentally-on-purpose hooked jan-u-wine into writing for Doctor Who. *happy bouncing* And being jan, her first drabble (for Susan in exile) was just *lovely*!

There's something all sparkles and happy rainbow-bits when an old friend joins in.

Speaking of writing, there's a meme going around in which we are to post snippets of all the unfinished works we have in our fandom writings, so here it is snagged from [livejournal.com profile] eponymous_rose and [livejournal.com profile] stunt_muppet:

When you see this, post a brief snippet of all your fannish works-in-progress.

These could take a long, long time - I am very scattered! )
And then there's three others! Except they're sadly still in outline form for the most part - sigh... and I often feel I only write ever so slowly.

Now it is a sunny, cool day and I am going out for a much-needed walk - if someone could invent a way to write and walk at the same time I'd be skinny as a rail, I swear.

Sometimes I really do wish plotbunnies were just a little more, hm, directable.

Meant to work on my story du jour, but ended up writing five drabbles instead, not a single one of which connected with my original intent. Then signed up for [livejournal.com profile] tardis_gen which meant I had to round up bunnies again to come up with three prompts for other people... kept writing a prompt and going "Oooh! No, I'm keeping that bunny!" and tucking the little beggers away in their hutch. Finally picked three runts from the litter and let them go out into the wild.

The bunnies refuse to help me with the original story, though. Complete bog-down. Must find a way to spike their carrots, especially if get brave enough to try a Pimpernel fic.

On a bunnylike note, I just finished Vanity Fair by Thackery and one of the many amusing names he had for minor characters was Felix Rabbits - a happy clergyman with thirteen+ children. *snert*

I'm feeling rather overwhelmed with all the writing I wish I had time to pursue, fragmentary multi-chapter stories rattling around, concepts for history essays, ideas for poems or adaptations. My laundry is piling up. 0_o

On the other hand, I've jumped off the bridge to swim in the waters of ficathons for the first time (a First Doctor story for [livejournal.com profile] classicdw_fic) and found it dangerously addictive. Think I better just stick with wading in the shallows for now, I see how easily that sort of thing could eat up entire weeks (or months!). Part of the problem is brevity, or lack thereof - I'm getting better at short stories, but one I just finished (Unnecessary Vector with the Second Doctor) started as a drabble and ended up 5 chapters long. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

And then, just to contradict my very own pulling on the reins and to prove the muse takes the bit in her mouth whenever she's determined to, I'm already planning on joining in on the new [livejournal.com profile] tardis_gen ficathon because I vehemently agree the world needs more gen for the good Doctor and want to do my part. Very encouraging to see the names of several fine writers already in their membership.

On the more hopeful side, I'm keeping up so far with a blog our church is doing together - we're reading the Bible three chapters a day to get through it in one year. Really helps having others involved and the pastor's sense of humor is a good thing.

Boy am I glad I don't have to do this with a quill and ink-bottle! Can you imagine all these LJ entries from everyone having to be hand-inscribed?
