Finally finishing up my bedroom wall mural - considering I started off with "some purple over on that wall" and some kind for a stronger vertical presence. I'm pleased with how it came out, especially since I wasn't really sure what I was doing when I started in chalking lines on the wall. We plan on adding a transom window opposite this wall, so the mirrors will eventually be picking up light from there as well.

I didn't want it to get too busy, detailed or "faux window"-ish, more of an impression of a view. This is being done with semigloss wall paint, foam brush, sea sponge and a bit of detailing.

My husband liked to juggle but hasn't done it much recently, so when I came across our old basket of koosh balls I thought I'd sort through them. Discovered the really old ones were getting brittle as the rubber had aged, kind of like old rubber bands, so when they were tossed they shed little bits of koosh everywhere. Threw the guilty ones into the wastebasket and forgot about it.

Woke up in the middle of the night to an unearthly glow coming from the wastebasket in my room. Half-asleep me was a bit wigged out for a moment before tracking it to a glow-in-the-dark koosh down among its brethren gamely lighting up their resting place; a kooshy apparition of koosh-balls past. I am half-inclined to keep it and do something with all the glow-in-the-dark rubber bits now if I could think of anything creative with them - any suggestions?

I'm learning to make my own yarn falls for dancing - first attempt here, though I've added more to them since this pic.  It's nice how they make me feel like I have long hair again, at least a bit.

Nice quiet Saturday, been a while since I had one of those.  Just spent a good part of an afternoon playing Shoot Many Robots with my son, a game he got on his X-box - red-neck robot shootin', I enjoyed it more than I expected to, especially as you heal by chugging beers so we were screaming at one another "Drink a beer! Quick!" and enjoying oddball weaponry (my favorites were my gun that shot exploding garden gnomes and my Howdy Weasel pink backpack that added more beer).

Played around with some yarn and learned to make faux-dreads to add to a hair fall I'm experimenting with for dance.  Going to go pop some popcorn and watch Iron Man III with him now, since we're the only ones in the family who haven't seen it yet.  Hope everyone on my flist can grab a bit of downtime too.

I feel so accomplished, heh.  I'd picked up an assortment of old silver serving spoons and such at various garage sales and finally took the time to finish making them into a wind-chime of sorts:
Ta-dahhh )

This way if I ever get tired of it, I can take it apart and have a lot of perfectly serviceable spoons and tongs and so on too.  ;-)

So, we have a tiny bathroom downstairs with a boring but sturdy walnut cabinet on the wall - my opinion being it's too useful to remove and too dark to leave 'that way' in such a small space, thus.... voila!  I did up an abstract oceany thingy on it using various colors of rub-n-buff... it was all done with just my fingers, no brushes, which made for tired hands occasionally, but... hey!  :-)  Much happiness.

Wave on, cabinet, wave on... )
