Egads, it's been a while...where do I even begin? As Inigo said, 'Let me 'splain...no, there is too much, let me sum up.'
First off, let me tell you that I have (barely) managed to (mostly) keep up with your postings, I just haven't the time or lack of interruption to be able to reply to all as I would like... I know all of us have times we say this to one another, I guess it's just my turn to wave my hands over my head and cry out a faint "here! I'm here!" :-P
For any who may have interest,
Well, I only had a handful of people respond to my appeal for homeschooling cooperation, four families with younger children. Not enough to work it out, so I'm pointing them to another local co-op instead and we've put our daughter into a hybrid school that's 3 days of instruction and 2 days of homeschool as a start, and my son will be homeschooled all the way if it works...
The soap opera of our school has dragged on interminably and I can't even begin to say how grateful I am that the last day of school is tomorrow - oh blessed end of trials! The sniping, snarky attitudes, cold shoulders and rumor-mill will all be banished to the far end of town as of the morrow, calloo callay! I am seen as a part of that (bad evil nasty) church that fired the (perfect can do no wrong) principal after all... you know, the one that ran us so far into debt we almost lost our building...and tried to cover it up? yeah... Gack, what a mess it's been, even today when I went into our school office to check my mailbox and almost ran right into our *former* 'leader'...yes the same, fired back in February...you wouldn't know it from how often she's in our building and now hanging out in our office... gack. I stayed right near her and made myself busy writing little happy notes to various teachers for something to do until she finally left - I'm sorry, but I don't trust her anymore, especially not around our office computers and files when she shouldn't even BE there. Mutter mutter... I won't go into any number of other little vignettes, but sheesh... Between her and a parent who made a HUGE, screaming stink and withdrew her children to 'homeschool' who has also been here all week *with her kids* ('because they're homeschooled so they can do whatever they want'?!) I am ready to throttle someone. GAH!
SO - on to the ridiculous - Our preschool is well and strong but lacking a director. "Gee," say the leadership, "It sure would be nice if it could be someone from our own church..." and they eyeball me and make noises about what a fine job I've been doing keeping the communication and morale going for the teachers. Um, excuse me? I'm effectively moderating in real life is all I'm doing... I have NEVER officially taught anything, I have NO experience in running a preschool program and my maternal instincts are a bit low, as I couldn't wait for my kids to get older. And they look at me? "I don't think so...no thanks...I'll just do the library..." *rolls eyes*
And the happy news - we have another school who needs a building, and ours fits it *exactly* - this means all of our classrooms will still be in full swing even with "our" school gone, and all our resources still used by much nicer people, and (my WOOT moment) I get to move my library to a bigger room!!! Out of the basement!!! Where I don't have to fret about my books flooding every winter!!! Sure it means a TON of hauling to do this summer, but I am so very tickled about this, this and the new school going up into high school grades which means I get to expand and build up the Young Adults section now - fun fun fun. :-)
The light is at the end of the tunnel, and it appears it isn't the train we thought it was.
My plants are doing so well this year now that the weeds are caught up on, I keep wanting to post pictures of them. Perhaps I should put together a little page o' plant pictures or something. My canterbury bells opened up today, and my peonies and miniature roses are blooming... there's so much happening out there, it's hard to not want to share it somehow.
Thank you, all of you, for still being here. (((f-list)))

Date: 2006-06-02 01:10 pm (UTC)We tallied up the resources and rooms we could offer to this new school and when they met with us and tenatively told us the number they needed it was *exact* - down to the letter! They fit with us hand-in-glove, and the timing is perfect. May the showers of blessing start for all! :-)
Hello
Date: 2006-06-02 06:55 am (UTC)Weed can really be a pain in the butt, glad that your plants are doing so well and I would love to see pictures of your plants.
Re: Hello
Date: 2006-06-02 01:15 pm (UTC)I fear there are several involved who have chosen to build on a rotten foundation and have a blind loyalty to someone who is not what they think - I'm mostly past the 'made their bed so now they'll have to lie in it!" spite phase now and just feel sorry for them, if they would only leave us alone.
Thank you for your comments - and yay for flowers. :-)

Date: 2006-06-02 12:51 pm (UTC)At this point, cutting ties with the ones who caused so much trouble -- was it really just two people, eek! -- is the best for everyone. Unfortunately, it only takes one blind and bitter complainer to sway the masses. And good for you for keeping tabs on that fired person -- you are right, that one shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the office after all that.
*hugs and prayers, my dear*
Let's see those plant pictures!

Date: 2006-06-02 01:20 pm (UTC)I thank you for your vote of confidence, and for your wisdom - SO true! I've been filling gaps and leading in various areas for lack of anyone else since Feb. and I am so ready to duck out of that harness... So, know any good Christian preschool directors who would like to live in Oregon? ;-) The pay is bad, but the kids are cute and the librarian will take them out to lunch.
I think I shall go snap a couple more pics this morning!
