Ah, the quirks of homemade housing! We've just discovered that every single light fixture in the new house is wired exactly backwards. This means if someone were to say, stick a tool in to get a broken bulb end out or something they would get a very nasty shock - not to mention it being against code. Sigh. Lots of fixtures to have to take back down and rewire. Bleah. At least light fixtures is one thing I know how to do - I can twist wires together with those little wire nuts just like a pro. ;-)

Moved a large couch to make way for the carpet-cleaning guys - shouldn't have done that. Going to be quite stiff tomorrow I think - I need a super-muscles suit that I can zip into when this sort of thing comes up. I'm still shoving whatever I can fit into my station wagon and hauling it as much as I can by myself, so I really *could* too.

And lookee! I remembered to update my journal! Aren't you all proud of me? :-D

Very proud!!

Oh, you make me nostalgic for moving. I know that might sound wierd, but I actually LOVE moving. I love the chance to get into a "new" place and decorate and organize and well, I guess that's why every couple of months I HAVE to rearrange a room in my house. I just go crazy without some kind of change happening.

Doing it the way you're doing it is really smart too. You can deal with one car load of stuff at a time, much better than a whole moving truck full of stuff.

Oh how I wis I could come visit for a week to help you with all this. There's nothing better than chatting away the hours while you work side by side with someone at a task. Good luck with the switches, wear your rubber shoes!

Strangely enough, I love moving too - I always attributed it to my constantly moving when I was growing up programming me that moving is normality, so I can't stay in one place too long without having frantic 'must be moving!' attacks. The paths seem too well-trodden, the neighbors too well-known. I am delighting in having a new yard and new house and new neighbors to learn about, a new place to walk, different places to hang my pictures, etc.

I told Rose "It's such fun to have a new yard to play with! I have no idea what will come out of the ground in the Spring here." and she looked at me like I was crazy. She's not taking it so well, it being her first move (that she can remember - she was only 2 when we bought our other house).
