My daughter is encouraging me to start up a facebook account, but I find I already have my plate full just vaguely managing to keep up with LJ... Have any of you ventured into Facebook? What makes it any different from here?

Also much happiness here as we've finally a new pastor and he and his family are moving here this week - they'll be staying with *us* for the next week or so until a rental house is available for them, which gives us a whopping 10 people plus randomly cycling friends and visitors. Somehow I foresee a lot of time spent in the kitchen!

Yikes...getting down into the 30s at night... time to finish patching the holes in my greenhouse so I can bed down my plant children for the winter. Duct-tape is my friend.

Yep, I'm there, quite intermittently at the moment, but it's turning into a great way to get back in touch with loads of folks we knew when we lived overseas.

It's somewhat similar to here in that you can leave comments and such, and it has a feature that allows you to see what your friends are doing and saying, like a friend's list. It's also it's similar to a message board in that you can PM people. There is also a chat feature, so if you happen to be online at the same time, you can chat with someone. That's the bare bones. The best thing about it is that it's ultra easy to find people you know, especially if they know some of the same people you do. As for how much of a time waster is it, we'll see. ;-)

Yay for a new pastor, what a relief that much be!! Our church is in the process of trying to find an assistant pastor, as our pastor could use some help -- the congregation is growing enough that he can't spend time with everyone like he wants to. A good position to be in! Have fun being hostess, may it be a great time of bonding and welcoming the new shepherd and his family.

Well, connecting is a good thing - as is variety and old dogs learning new tricks to keep up with the young-uns. Hm!

And yes, what a relief it is! We've been plugging along fairly well and had a lot of variety in our speakers over this past year but it will be very, very nice to have it 'done'. They're coming over from PA via roadtrip, nice folks, I think they'll fit in here in the NW just fine - and as a bonus they're even geeky.

Good luck finding your associate - always wonderful news that your church is growing rather than shrinking.
